Ruthie Phillips-Cruz
Operations Director
Ruthie, a graduate of Sacred Heart University's 5-year Elementary Education Program with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology, is a devoted educator and leader. Drawing from her solid foundation in elementary education and sociology, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. With over a decade of experience in the Horizons programs, Ruthie has recently excelled as a lead 5th-grade teacher in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
In addition to her classroom role, Ruthie manages operational tasks for the Summer program at Horizons Notre Dame. Her work emphasizes building positive relationships with students, educators, and parents. She is responsible for program operation, communication, and providing support.
Ruthie's passion lies in guiding students towards academic success. She excels in planning and executing effective programming, offering enriching opportunities, overseeing staff, and engaging with the community. Recognizing the importance of family involvement, Ruthie actively works with parents and guardians, fostering open communication and developing inclusive programs that support students and their families throughout their educational journeys.
 
Keishaana Kelly
Academic Director
Keishaana Kelly is an enthusiastic educator who brings her passion for learning to Horizons at Notre Dame. With a background in elementary and middle school education, Keishaana excels in creating dynamic and engaging learning experiences that inspire students to reach their full potential.
Keishaana is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport earning a Master’s of Science in Education and a Bachelors of Art in English from the University of Connecticut. Currently, Keishaana is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher in the Bridgeport Public Schools, where she has been nurturing young minds for over a decade. With a deep passion for education, Keishaana focuses on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages creativity and curiosity.
Since 2011, Keishaana has worked as a teacher and reading interventionist demonstrating the ability to connect with students and families at Horizons.  She is dedicated to student achievement and fostering social emotional learning for all while striving to create an atmosphere where students feel safe, respected, and excited to learn. Currently, Keishaana serves as the Academic Director overseeing the educational aspects of the program, ensuring high quality instruction, and supporting both students and staff.
